Reimagining the Way You Work: What’s Next for You with The Origin Company

When we launched The Origin Company last week, other than feedback that our new virtual home brought on feelings of relaxation and expansion (yes!), one thing came up over and over again:

What does this change mean for me?

Whether you’re new here or you’ve been part of our community since the Money: A Love Story days, please know this:

Our shift from building a personal brand to building a company means there’s more space for you and more support for you than ever before.

In case you were worried about this, I want to be clear: I’m not going anywhere.

I simply didn’t want to feel the energetic pressure that I’d started to feel around building a personal brand and feeling like I was the product on some level.

I knew that if we put our energy as a team toward building something bigger than what my identity had the capacity to encompass, there would be more space for everyone.

And that means YOU.

So, if you’re wondering where you fit in all of this and what’s next for you with The Origin Company when it comes to reimagining the way you work with us, you’re in the right place.

I enjoy receiving the emails from your company and wish you all the best in this transition. Here’s a personal observation since you invited it. I am 64 years old, at the end of both my career and my active motherhood. My last child was born when I was 44, so he just turned 20. What a trip! Any older mom knows what I mean and younger moms probably can’t relate, so I’ll just leave it there.
I love what I’ve learned here about timing your work to your moon cycle and have been paying attention to that for the last several months. Of course I use the actual moon phases since I am post-menopausal. I have found my energy does indeed follow the general pattern you laid out, and am grateful for this suggestion!
I can relate to all of your content, since I’ve been a working mom for decades. However I do wish for content that is specific to older women. I recognize this is not your target demographic, and do not suggest you ought to try to be all things to all people. But we all get older every day, and I’m sure many of your readers are closer to my age than yours.
I guess I’m asking your company to consider whether you think that adding content for older women is a good idea or not. What I would love to find is a place to explore what productivity and self-care look like when you are making that transition from being primarily a care giver of others to primarily a care giver to yourself. How can I best respond to the changing drives in myself, and break away from the cultural expectations I grew up with?
I really understand that you recognized “you were the product” and wanted to get away from that. Kudos to you! So as your company is transitioning from being one woman’s voice and vision to a group voice and vision, might one of those voices be a mature, post-menopausal one?
    Thank you for reading this.
